Arizona could add over 150,000 jobs over the next two years, according to a short-term economic projection by the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity and the U.S. Department of Labor. 

The outlook, which was recently announced by the state's Office of Economic Opportunity, projects a 2.6 percent increase in job growth throughout the state with an estimated 152,968 new positions over two years. 

Gov. Doug Ducey said the projected increase stems from the state's entrepreneurs and innovators. 

“Arizona’s economy continues to thrive thanks to the hard work of entrepreneurs and innovators throughout our state,” Ducey said in a statement. “We are focused on making Arizona the best place in the country to launch a new idea, relocate, or expand a business, and I am excited to see the continued positive developments to come."

According to the Office of Economic Opportunity's report, educational and health services are slated to have the biggest growth with a projected 39,779 new jobs. Professional and business services are expected to see a gain of 22,391 jobs, followed by leisure and hospitality with 19,547 jobs. 

Also according to the report, the construction field is expected to see 15,554 new jobs and trade, transportation and utilities are anticipated to see 15,312 added jobs.
