85 percent of applicants to East Tennessee State University were admitted for fall 2017


At East Tennessee State University, 83 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Johnson City enrolled 14,353 students in fall 2017, including 11,323 in undergraduate and 3,030 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

82 percent of undergraduates are residents of Tennessee, and 16 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (81 percent) and Black or African American (7 percent).

The school admitted 85 percent of the 8,169 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 29 percent enrolled.
