Graduates earn 788 degrees, certificates from Carson-Newman University


About 46.7 percent of the 788 degrees and certificates handed out by Carson-Newman University in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in City conferred 222 master's degrees and 52 doctor's degrees in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in general educational leadership and administration. Data shows the school gave out 70 master's degrees in general educational leadership and administration, followed by 56 master's degrees in general business administration and management and 55 master's degrees in "other" teacher education and professional development, specific levels and methods.

The university enrolled 2,514 students for 2017-18, including 1,690 in undergraduate programs and 824 in graduate programs.
