Graduates earn 608 degrees, certificates from South College


About 82.9 percent of the 608 degrees and certificates handed out by South College in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private for-profit institution in Knoxville conferred 172 doctor's degrees and 146 associate's degrees in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a doctor's degree in physical therapy/therapist. Data shows the school gave out 88 doctor's degrees in physical therapy/therapist, followed by 84 doctor's degrees in pharmacy and 83 master's degrees in physician assistant.

The college enrolled 2,146 students for 2017-18, including 1,410 in undergraduate programs and 736 in graduate programs.
